Kimberly Hinkel

Kimberly joined the military after graduating from high school and proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation mechanic. She served during Desert Storm and earned several awards and medals before being honorably discharged and returning to Kentucky to raise her family.
Kimberly returned to college after her service and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Louisville, with a Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Science Degree in Social Work. Her experience in the field of child welfare and working with families struggling with addiction inspired her to create www.SOSforAddictions.com which launched in 2016.
In 2019, Kimberly co-founded the Louisville Recovery Community Connection (LRCC) in Louisville, Kentucky which provides resources and supports for individuals who are in recovery from addiction. She served on the Board of Directors for six years before stepping down July 2025 to focus on the start-up of a Recovery Community Center for Shelbyville, Ky – Recovery Cafe SOS.
Kimberly previously held the position of Executive Director for the Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling and continues to advocate and work with legislators, organizations, and communities to raise awareness to problem gambling.
